THERE
IS A LAND IN THE HEART OF EUROPE
The terms SLAVIA or SLAVIALAND are used for the geographic distribution of the Slavic languages. This new word SLAVIALAND should be accepted as a synonym for LOVE PEACE AND FREEDOM by UNITED IN DIVERSITY, which is the motto of the SLAVIC UNION.

SLAVIA
What is SLAVIA or SLAVIALAND, and where is that "land in the heart of EUROPE "?.... On this map we can see the 13 countries that have a Slavic language as their official language. The countries on the map are Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republik, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine (+ Lusatia ). If you look better, you will see on the map also the territory of Lusatia or Sorbia. Lusatian Sorbs are the smallest Slavic nation, and they live in modern Germany , in the regions of Brandenburg and Saxony, in the corner just between Poland , Czech Republik and Germany . The Slavic Union will support the idea about high autonomy for Lusatia in the German state, to save the smallest Slavic nation "in the heart of Europe" from disappearing...
On the map there is also the territory of Burgenland in Austria , where there live ethnic Croats, more famous by the name Burgenland Croats, and they can be described as the most authentic Slavic diaspora from the Slavic states. On the map we can also see the four big seas, the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea and the Adriatic Sea. In this Euroasiatic territory which we call SLAVIA there live about 287 052 000 million different peoples and nationalities. If we speak only about the European part of SLAVIA, that is about 30% of all European population. The area of SLAVIA is 18 694 500 km², and if we speak only about the European part of SLAVIA, that is about 53% of all European area. In the future we propose that this Euroasiatic cultural area would be seen like a territory of love, peace and freedom by united in diversity.
And that is SLAVIA.
INTRODUCTION
On a heavily rainy day, July 13, 2004, I arrived at the Slovenian Embassy in
Helsinki. From there I sent a letter to the Slovenian government asking for
support to establish some kind of Slavic cultural union. This would be a union
between the Slavic states and all people near the Slavic culture and languages
around the world, and also a cultural bridge between the Slavic and all other
European and world cultures.
In my opinion, this kind of union should be supported by the Slavic governments
from the start, and I chose the Slovenians. From my time in Yugoslavia I knew
them to be pragmatic and responsible people. Slovenia happens to be the most western
of the Slavic states, today it has a high level of democracy and it was the
first Slavic state to become a member of the EU. I believed that if the
Slovenians supported my idea, then all the other Slavic states would follow,
and my Initiative would be understood in the right way, serving the democratic
value of today.
While waiting for the answer, I founded an association named the SLAVIC UNION
here in Finland, with the idea that it would grow to become globally what I had
visioned. I also wrote my "First Slavic Proclamation" or "The
First Epistle to the Slavs and Others", shortly and simply to advertise
and to explain what I meant with this cultural initiative. During that time I
got my first supporters.
In the future I plan to publish a book, some kind of brochure, but before that
is going to happen I have decided to put all my ideas on the Internet in the
form of a website. In my opinion, the site should be like an open book which is
read page by page. I have used a simple technique, but I hope the site will be
more complete in the future. Now at least many people can go on the Internet
and read the site for themselves. Just like every website, my site - "the
open book" - is alive and interactive. So, "You...oh, good
reader", you will find on the site my contact info, and if you feel like
it, just call or write to me and give your opinions, critiques, etc.
Although the Initiative is cultural, we will need support of the governments of
the Slavic states and the international community, otherwise it will remain
only an idea.
The future will tell if I was right or not.

What is First Slavic Proclamation or First Epistle to the Slavs and others? From the very beginning, as the founder of the Slavic Union, l am preparing to write a small brochure in English where l will explain the idea of the Slavic Union. This brochure has still not been published, and this picture is exactly the second page of the brochure, something like an introduction in a picture. The First Slavic Proclamation or First Epistle to the Slavs and Others is a call for understanding, tolerance, a united Europe, for living in love, peace and freedom.
